The Madison Capitols continued their hot start to the season Friday night, knocking off the Lincoln Stars 2–1 on the road to earn their fourth straight victory.
Lincoln opened the scoring midway through the first period when Alex Pelletier found the back of the net at 5:47, but Madison quickly settled in behind another strong performance from goaltender Caleb Heil, who stopped 24 of 25 shots in the win.
The Capitols tied things up in the second period on the power play, as Ronan Buckberger rifled home his second goal of the season from the point. Jet Kwajah earned the assist on the man-advantage tally, which helped the USHL's top power play improve to 1-for-2 on the night.
In the third, Madison took its first lead of the game when Sam Kappell netted his fifth of the season off a feed from Nolen Geerdes at 6:21. The Capitols held strong the rest of the way, with Heil closing the door to secure the win.
With the victory, Madison improves to 5-2-0-0 on the season and will look to complete the weekend sweep when the two teams meet again Saturday night in Lincoln.
