The Caps pushed their point streak to seven games on Friday night with a 5-3 win over the USNTDP U17s. Madison found themselves down after one period in Plymouth, Mich., but the Capitols were able to score four of the next five goals to propel themselves to victory.
In the first, the U17s struck first half way through the period, but the Capitols had the answer less than a minute later with a goal from Max Rider, his sixth of the season. The NTDP found one more goal late in the period to take the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Madison found the only goals of the second period with Stephen Cover scoring his third of the season and Gavin Uhlenkamp giving the Caps the lead with his ninth of the year.
The NTDP scored just 22 seconds into the third period to tie it back up at three, but the Capitols had the answer in less than a minute. The go-ahead goal was scored by Jet Kwajah, his first of the season. Another defenseman, Nolen Geerdes, put the cheery on top for Madison scoring into the empty net from behind his own net thanks to an odd bounce off the wall.
Madison improves to 11-6-0-2 on the season. The Capitols will look to complete the sweep on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.
