Caleb Heil Named USHL Goalie of the Week

Madison's netminder is in his second season with the team.

For the second time this season, Caleb Heil has been named the USHL Goalie of the Week. Heil collected his first shutout of the 2025-26 season on Saturday night to help Madison complete a series sweep over the USNTDP U17s.

The award caps off a great month for the Heil as he has been a big reason why the team carries an eight-game point streak into the month of December. The Capitols goaltender went 5-0-0-2 in November with a 1.94 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. This includes the pair of wins Madison collected against the USNTDP U17s this past weekend.

The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect went 2-0-0-0 this past weekend with a .903 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average over the two games. Heil collected his first shutout of the 2025-26 season on Saturday, which puts him on top of the franchise's Tier 1 career shutout list with three. He currently sits two shy of a tie of the team's all-time wins record of 37 held by former Hobey Baker Award winner Dryden McKay.

Heil will not play with the Capitols again until after the holiday break due to being named to the U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete at the World Junior A Challenge. The goaltender will be joined by Capitols defender John Stout and coach Andy Brandt at the event. This year's tournament taking place in Quebec will be Heil's third time representing his country at the event. Last year, the North Dakota commit went 4-0 in the event with a .931 save percentage and a 1.33 goals against average. In 2023, Heil won his lone start in goal.

This is Heil's sixth time winning the league's weekly award, all during the 2025 calendar year. The goaltender previously was named USHL Goaltender of the Week in October following a pair of games where he allowed only one goal.

Madison has Thanksgiving weekend off and returns home on December 5th to start a two-game series with Sioux Falls. Tickets are available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
