After an overtime win last night to snap a three-game losing streak, the Capitols traveled to the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to take on in-state rival, the Green Bay Gamblers, on Saturday night. This was the third of eight meetings between the foes this season; each team came into Saturday with a win apiece, Green Bay's coming in a shootout.
The Gamblers got right to work in this one, scoring five unanswered goals through the first and second periods. Zach Wooten would score three of those goals, recording his second hat trick of the season. Wooten has 14 points in his last seven games. He is committed to playing his collegiate hockey with the Wisconsin Badgers.
The lone goals for the Capitols came in the third period courtesy of Sam Kappell and Max Rider. Green Bay would add another goal late and secure their 11th consecutive win, the longest active win streak in the USHL.
Brady Krey got the start for the Capitols in net tonight. He saved 26 of the 31 shots sent his way. The Capitols will travel to Waterloo to take on the Black Hawks on December 27th.
