Madison enters another three-in-three this weekend after picking up only two points in Youngstown last week. The Capitols are 3-1-0-0 against the USNTDP this season, 3-0 against the U17s and 0-1 against the U18s. Entering the weekend in a tie for third place in the Eastern Conference, points are more important than they have been at any other point this season for the Caps.
About Last Weekend
The Capitols traveled to Youngstown for a three-in-three with the Phantoms. The host had the better of Madison in the first two games of the series, 5-2 and 4-1, but when the Capitols needed him most, Caleb Heil came out strong in the third game of the series helping Madison prevail with a 1-0 victory. Youngstown jumped Madison in the standings in the Eastern Conference sitting one point ahead of the Capitols entering play this weekend, but the Caps have two games in hand over the second placed Phantoms.
Scouting USNTDP
The Caps will face off against the U18s on Friday and Saturday before a Sunday afternoon matinee with the U17s. The three meetings will be the final three between the two organizations this season. If Madison were to capture one victory this weekend, the Capitols would both clinch the season series, but more importantly, would clinch a spot in the playoffs for the second straight season.
The U18s gave Madison troubles in the two team's last matchup in late February. The NTDP was able to battle back from down 2-1 at the first intermission to win 6-2 in the game. The U18s enter play this weekend riding a ten-game win streak including wins over two division one programs along the way. Madison has had success over the U17s this season with wins in all three meetings.
