Madison hit the road on Saturday night to face off against Dubuque for a matchup between the two top teams in the East. The Capitols, with late heroics from Egor Barabanov, captured the team's fifth straight victory and pulled within one point of Dubuque for the top spot in the standings.

The Caps responded quickly after an early Dubuque power-play goal from Josh Giuliani, with Diego Johnson finding the back of the net at 5:05. Jackson Nevers and Ryker Lee followed up with first-period tallies, giving Madison a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.

Following a scoreless second period, Dubuque pulled even with a power-play goal from Michael Barron midway through the third. But Madison regained control late, as Egor Barabanov buried the game-winner at 18:12, and Gavin Uhlenkamp sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:02.

With the win, the Capitols moved within one point of Dubuque for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Madison hits the road next weekend for a three-in-three against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
