The Madison Capitols powered past the Muskegon Lumberjacks with a dominant 6-2 victory on Friday night, securing their spot atop the standings.
After an early Muskegon goal, Colton Jamieson responded quickly to even the score in the first period. The Capitols took control in the second, as Diego Johnson, Ryker Lee, and Gavin Uhlenkamp all found the back of the net to build a commanding lead.
Madison wasted no time in the third, with Sam Kappell striking just 40 seconds in before Mason Moe sealed the win with an empty-netter. Finn Brink and Mason Moe each recorded multi-point performances, while Jet Kwajah tallied two assists.
With the victory, Madison improves to 37-15-3-1 and jumps into first place. The series continues with two more matchups against Muskegon on Saturday and Sunday.
