Caps Take Second in a Row Against Lumberjacks

Madison improves to 38-15-3-1 on the season.

The Madison Capitols extended their winning streak with a 5-2 victory over the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday night, fueled by a strong special teams performance.

Egor Barabanov opened the scoring on the power play in the first period, and Madison built on its lead in the second with goals from Sam Kappell and Diego Johnson. Muskegon cut into the deficit late in the second and again in the third, but Johnson struck again on the power play before Bobby Cowan capped the night with an empty-net tally.

Charlie Michaud and Aiden Long each added two assists, while the Capitols' power play delivered three goals in the win.

With the victory, Madison improves to 38-15-3-1 and remains in first place. The Capitols will close out the weekend series against Muskegon on Sunday.
