The Madison Capitols came up just short in a 3-2 loss to the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Sunday, closing out the three-game series on the road.
Gavin Uhlenkamp put Madison on the board early, and Nolen Geerdes followed with his first USHL goal late in the first period to give the Capitols a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless second, Muskegon struck quickly on the power play to tie the game just nine seconds into the third before netting the game-winner midway through the period.
With the loss, Madison drops to 38-16-3-1 but remains in first place. The Capitols will look to bounce back next weekend as they return home.
