Seeding in the Eastern Conference playoffs came down to the final day of the 2024-25 regular season. Although the Capitols could have finished as high as the top seed, Madison ended up with the three seed thanks to their win over Green Bay on Saturday.
Diego Johnson scored twice for Madison in the contest, which finished his season total at twenty goals. He becomes the 16th Capitols player in the team's Tier I history to score twenty goals in a season and fifth on the team this season, which is a franchise high.
Capitols leading scorer, Ryker Lee, put a bow on his season with the go ahead goal in the third period. Lee finishes the regular season with 68 points and 70 in his USHL career in just 60 games.
Other scorers for the Capitols included Jet Kwajah(6), Ian Scherzer(8), and Gavin Uhlenkamp(17).
Five Madison players registered a multi-point game in the contest including Jackson Nevers who registered a career high three assists in the game. John Stout registered his first multi-point game in his USHL career in the game. Stout finished the regular season with the top plus-minus in the USHL with a +44, which doubled the former team record, Reid Pabich with +22 in 2021-22.
Caleb Heil collected his 25th win for the Caps this season, which is a franchise high for wins in a single season. Heil won two more games than the previous record while playing three less games than Latkoczy in 2021-22.
Madison turns the page to Monday night when they'll start their run at a Clark Cup as the Gamblers return to Middleton for the first of a three game series all at home for the Caps. Tickets are on sale at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
