The Madison Capitols struck early but could not keep pace with the Fighting Saints, falling 6-1 on Saturday night at ImOn Arena.
Ryker Lee gave Madison an early boost, scoring just 1:13 into the first period off a feed from Finn Brink. Dubuque responded with a penalty shot goal later in the frame and pulled away with five unanswered goals, including four power-play tallies. The Fighting Saints finished 4-for-7 on the man advantage.
The matchup turned chippy in the later stages, with Madison totaling 84 penalty minutes to Dubuque's 43.
