The Madison Capitols struck early and often on Saturday night, skating to a 5–3 victory over the Chicago Steel.
Madison wasted no time building momentum, finding the back of the net twice in the opening six minutes. Gustavs Griva buried his second of the season before Caleb Pittsley followed up just 32 seconds later with his first USHL goal. Tyden Bergeson added to the surge midway through the frame to give the Caps a commanding 3–1 lead after one.
The advantage stretched further in the second when Sam Kappell scored his second of the year off a setup from Nolen Geerdes and Dexter Brooks. Chicago cut into the deficit late, but Madison still carried a 4–2 cushion into the third.
Kappell struck again early in the final frame, this time on the power play, set up by Griva and Ronan Buckberger. That insurance marker proved key, as Chicago drew back within two midway through the period, but the Capitols' defensive effort held firm the rest of the way to secure the win.
Caleb Heil and the Capitols defensive unit held off a strong push from the Steel in the third period. Madison was outshot 14-5 in the last twenty minutes of action.
