The Capitols opened up a four-game home stand on Friday night, hosting the Waterloo Black Hawks for the final time in the regular season. Coming into the night, Madison owned the season series 3-1 over Waterloo. Madison looked to defend home ice and extend their three-game winning streak, while Waterloo aimed to win their second straight after defeating the Omaha Lancers last weekend.
Madison controlled this one from the start, scoring four goals in the opening frame. Harvard commit Michael Tang was responsible for two of the four goals as the Capitols led 4-0 at the end of the first period. Midway through the second period, while on the penalty kill, Will Dosan tallied a shorthanded goal to extend the lead to five.
Waterloo would eventually spoil a potential Brady Krey shutout, scoring three goals in the final frame, one coming on the power play. Madison's Chris Baird-Gajdos would light the lamp later in the third to secure the 6-3 win over the Black Hawks.
Brady Krey kept the crease clean for the Capitols. The Albertville, Minnesota, native padded away 19 of the 22 shots sent his way, earning his second win this season. With this win, the Capitols extended their winning streak to four. Madison will host the Chicago Steel for the first time this season on Saturday night.
