The Madison Capitols hosted the Chicago Steel for the third time in as many games on Friday night. The Steel took both games last weekend in Madison. Chicago came into the night one point behind Madison in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Capitols started the game off hot, scoring the first three goals of the contest. Max Rider, Rihards Griva, and Stephen Cover all registered goals before Chicago got on the board. Steel forward Alexander Assadourian would eventually slip one past Capitols goaltender Caleb Heil early in the second period. Chicago's Cole Tuminaro would add another goal for the Steel during the second period, bringing Chicago within one. Late into the third period, Max Rider would tally his second goal of the game and 11th of the season. John Stout would also light the lamp for the Capitols in the third to secure the win, 5-2 over the Steel.
Caleb Heil continued to hold strong between the pipes for Madison; the North Dakota commit saved 16 of the 18 shots sent his way and picked up his 13th win of the year.
Madison will travel to Chicago on Saturday night to complete the four-game series before returning home on Sunday to face the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
