The Capitols fell on Friday night in Muskegon 6-3 to the Lumberjacks. Madison led 3-2 four minutes into the second period. Muskegon scored the next four goals to drop the Capitols to 0-3-0-0 on the season.
Madison struck first for the second straight game on a rush in the first period with Landon MacSwain burying his first USHL goal from Michal Jakubec and Cooper Snee. The assist marked Cooper Snee's first point of the season. The Lumberjacks were able to tie the game at one before the end of the period, and the Caps went into the first intermission tied for the first time this season.
In the second period, Muskegon scored just 1:08 into the period, but Madison had an answer just fifteen seconds later with Bode McConnell scoring his second goal of the season. He was assisted by Aiden Ali, his first career USHL point, and Bryce Wiitala.Â
Logan Lutner put the Caps back in the lead three minutes later with his first goal of the season on a rebound. Caleb Pittsley and Will Dosan both grabbed an assist on the goal, which was both players first point of the season. Madison only was able to hold the lead for just over a minute and a half before the Jacks were able to tie it at three.
Muskegon regained the lead 14:32 in the period and would score two more goals in the next minute of game play. This forced Trent Eigner to pull Cash Cruitt after 35:30 minutes played. Cruitt went 18/24 in goal in the game.
Neither team found the back of the net in the third period with Muskegon going onto win 6-3.
The Capitols fall to 0-3-0-0 on the season for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Both teams will square off again on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 5:10 p.m. CT.
