The Madison Capitols traveled to Chicago on Saturday night for the second of a two-game set this weekend with the Steel. Chicago got the best of Madison in the first game, scoring five straight goals in the third period to win 5-1. Friday night's loss dropped the Capitols down one spot to sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.
After a scoreless opening frame, Chicago opened the scoring in this one in the second period as Boston College commit Brady Kudrick tallied his 14th goal of the season. The Capitols were quick to respond with a Max Rider goal to tie the game at one apiece.
At the 18:54 mark of the third period, while on the power play, Rider lit the lamp for the second time tonight, securing the 2-1 win over the Steel. Rider's second goal marked his fifth game-winning goal of the season and helped the Capitols snap a three-game losing streak.
Caleb Heil got the start between the pipes; he went on to save 21 of the 22 shots sent his way and earned his 20th win of the season. Madison will travel to Green Bay on Sunday afternoon to cap off a three-in-three weekend.
