The Capitols announced on Friday that the team has completed a trade with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL and acquired forward Sammy Smith.
This season, Smith has played each of the past two seasons with Janesville racking up 30 points in 77 games played. That includes 13 goals for the forward from Geneva, Ill. Prior to his time with Janesville, Smith played with the Windy City Storm where he registered 70 points in 56 games at the 16U level prior to being selected by the Capitols.
Smith joins Madison on the team's active roster after playing the last two seasons on the team's affiliated list. He was drafted by the Capitols in the 2024 Phase II Draft with the 69th overall pick.
In exchange, the Capitols have sent future considerations to Janesville. Smith is expected to join the team this weekend.
