Madison Bounces Back, Defeating the USNTDP 5-1

The Madison Capitols defeated the USNTDP U18 team 5-1 on Saturday night, rebounding from Friday's loss to the USNTDP.

After a scoreless first period, Wyatt Cullen opened the scoring for the USNTDP midway through the second. Madison responded later in the frame as blueliner Jet Kwajah buried a power-play goal to even the score.

Madison scored four straight goals in the third period, three of them on the power play. Eero Butella started the surge, tallying his fourth goal in his last five games. Gustavs Griva followed with a goal of his own to extend Madison's lead to two. At the midway point of the third period, Capitols' call-up Boden McConnell recorded his first USHL goal while skating in his first USHL game. Madison captain Jackson Nevers added the Capitols' fifth goal of the night to seal the win.

Caleb Heil bounced back between the pipes after allowing five goals on Friday, allowing just one on Saturday. He stopped 26 shots to earn his 22nd win of the season.
