The Madison Capitols clinched the final spot in the Clark Cup Playoffs on Friday night with a 5-2 win over the Sioux City Musketeers. Head coach Andy Brandt will lead the Capitols to their third consecutive playoff appearance.
The Capitols struck first as John Stout buried his eighth goal of the season. Sioux City responded later in the opening frame, as Gavin Garry scored to tie the game at one apiece. The Musketeers then opened the second-period scoring to take a one-goal lead.
It was all Madison from there. The Capitols rattled off four straight goals from Will Dosan, Stephen Cover, Sam Kappell, and Nolen Geerdes.Â
Caleb Heil stood tall between the pipes for Madison; the Gaudreau Award finalist padded away 19 of the 21 shots sent his way.Â
