The Madison Capitols were back at the Covelli Centre on Saturday night for Game 2 of a best-of-five series against the Youngstown Phantoms. Madison entered the night with a 1-0 series lead after a two-goal performance from Tyden Bergeson and a strong outing from goaltender Caleb Heil in Game 1.
Scoreless through regulation, Game 2 went to overtime. Late in the extra frame, Capitols forward Eero Butella buried the game-winning goal. Madison was out shot 40-14 in the 77-minute contest, but the difference once again was Heil. The Victoria, Minn., native stopped all 40 shots he faced to record the shutout and give the Capitols a 2-0 series lead.
The series will shift to Madison on Friday for Game 3 at Bob Suter's LEGACY20 Arena.
