Kappell scored his first goal in his first USHL game, which was a home game against the Chicago Steel... The Wisconsin native helped his high school team, Notre Dame Academy, capture a state championship at the Capitols arena during the 2022-23 season... Kappell played AAA hockey with Team Wisconsin.
