Justin Friedman is entering his third season with the Capitols, joining the team in June 2023. Friedman is an experienced Scout and Coach with over 20 years of experience both Scouting and Coaching at Junior and Tier I level. Prior to going into Scouting full-time, Friedman has experience coaching at a high level Nationally.
Justin's coaching experience includes a stint from 2010-2017 where he was the lead assistant coach with the New Jersey Junior Titans U16 and U18 teams which were nationally recognized and ranked teams. Following his stint with the Titans, Friedman was a part of the Ownership group of the New Jersey 87s of the Eastern Hockey League and Eastern Hockey League's Premier Division. In between stints with the 87s, Coach Friedman headed up the Washington Little Capitals 2007 Bantam Minor team. In his second stint with the 87s, the Eastern Hockey League team won the EHL Frozen Finals in Providence. This past season, Coach Friedman was the Associate Head Coach of the Mercer Chiefs program in the USPHL's NCDC. Coach Friedman helped lead the Chiefs to a Playoff Berth in their inaugural year including an upset of the League Champion and defending Dineen Cup Champion Jersey Hitmen in the first round of the playoffs.
Friedman comes in with plenty of experience on the scouting side. He served as an NAHL Scout with the New Jersey Titans of the NAHL from the 2015-2016 season up until the 2021-2022 season. This past year, he also worked on the Scouting Staff of the Youngstown Phantoms until being named Director of Scouting of the New Hampshire Mountain Kings NAHL team and the Mountain Kings Hockey Academy in March of 2023. He will continue to lead the Mountain Kings Scouting Department as well as with the Captiols. In addition to that, Friedman is also a co-owner and Director of NorthStar Elite Hockey which is a high level Spring and Summer program that runs from April-July every Spring/Summer.
