Following a 5-3 win on Thursday night, the Capitols returned to the ice at the Covelli Centre in hopes of completing their first sweep of the season over Youngstown.
After a scoreless first period, the Capitols capitalized on chances in the middle frame to give themselves a comfortable cushion heading into the second intermission. Finn Brink got the scoring underway registering his third goal of the season to put the Caps ahead 1-0. The Caps never surrendered the lead after the Brink goal with Musa and Aegerter both recording goals of their own in the second period.Â
In the third, Youngstown fought back recording three goals of their own, but it was a Jack Musa power play goal that eventually became the game winner in the third period. Â
Madison comes back home with a 4-3 victory and the team's first sweep of the season. The sweep comes in the first series of the year for the Caps, which ends a five game stretch prior to an off weekend next week. In that five game stretch of games, the Capitols went 4-1-0-0 in their first matchups against Eastern Conference opponents.
The Capitols have next weekend off ahead of a home series with Muskegon at the end of the month. The matchups with Muskegon will take place on the 28th and 29th of October with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 pm on both nights.
