BADGER HONOR FLIGHT

The inaugural Honor Flight Tour took place in May of 2005. Six small planes flew out of Springfield, Ohio taking twelve World War II Veterans on a visit to the memorial in Washington, DC. In August of 2005, an ever-expanding waiting list of Veterans led our transition to commercial airline carriers with the goal of accommodating as many Veterans as possible. Partnering with HonorAir in Hendersonville, North Carolina, we formed the "Honor Flight Network." Today, we continue working aggressively to expand our programs to other cities across the nation.

Badger Honor Flight is a regional affiliate of the national Honor Flight Network. The purpose of the Honor Flight Network is to ensure that World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and terminally ill Veterans from any war have the opportunity to see the memorials that have been erected in their honor. Badger Honor Flight provides all amenities to the Veterans, including all transportation, shirts, jackets, hats, and meals. Everything is free to the Veterans because of how much they have sacrificed for this great country already. The only money Veterans need is if they want to buy a souvenir for themselves.

The Veterans are accompanied by volunteer guardians. Guardians make sure the Veterans stay with the group and take care of any special needs. Guardians are responsible for paying their $500 trip fee on their own. Their fee is not covered by the donations that are collected.

RISE

RISE WISCONSIN

RISE emerged in April 2017 from a merger between Community Partnerships, Inc. and Center for Families, two Dane County non-profits focused on community-based, strengths-driven services to children, families, and young adults. When Community Partnerships was established in 2000, the agency's primary focus was providing mental health wraparound services to children and their families. Since 1976, Center for Families' services and programs have focused on building strong, stable families and preventing child abuse. Together, the organizations have more than 60 years of experience providing services in our community, and serve more than 2,230 individuals (including children and families) annually.

RISE believes in the power of human connection and the resilience that exists within everyone. They embrace strengths-based, solutions-focused approaches to addressing the mental health and wellness needs of our community. Their services provide education, support, stabilization, and coordination of care to children, families, and individuals in our community.

Their mission is to advance the wellness of children, individuals, and families by providing early childhood and mental health services to help community and family thrive.

TOYS FOR TOTS

The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Program, raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots Campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots Campaigns. Other Foundation support includes providing administrative, advisory, financial, logistic and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators; managing funds raised and monies donated based on the use of Toys for Tots name or logo; providing other support the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, cannot provide; and conducting public education and information programs about Toys for Tots that call the general public to action in support of this patriotic community action program.

MAW

MAKE-A-WISH WISCONSIN

Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wishes to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come true. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives.

Today, Make-A-Wish has granted hundreds of thousands of life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses. Wishes that give families hope through dark times, strength to persevere and experiences that forever change their lives.

Thank you to his mother, Linda Pauling, the Greicius family and the founders for their tireless dedication to our mission.

Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish® vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the U.S. and its territories, a wish is granted every 34 minutes. A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.

Their mission is: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

WISCAP

WISCAP

WISCAP's statewide network of sixteen local Community Action Agencies and two single purpose agencies is uniquely positioned to address the grinding poverty that exists in our rural, urban, and suburban communities alike. The people of our state who struggle in these circumstances deserve our respect — and our boldest, most innovative efforts to find solutions.

WISCAP is part of a national network of organizations, including the National Community Action Partnership, the National Community Action Foundation, and CAPLAW. WISCAP holds a seat on the Board of Directors of the Mid-America Community Action Association (MACAA), Region 5 of the national community action network.

WISCAP serves as a policy review and advocacy forum, a public information network, a training facilitator, an information clearinghouse, and an administrative agency. WISCAP was formed to strengthen and serve community action in Wisconsin. In this role, we:
- Act as an advocate for low-income households at all levels of government, the private sector, and with the public at-large;
-Encourage, promote, and stimulate the development of resources which demonstrate progress toward the elimination of poverty;
-Develop responsive public policy positions and support appropriate action on pending legislation;
-Promote professional growth and competence of members through training and support;
-Administer grants and contracts for the purpose of conducting programs in furtherance of the state association's goals.
