Madison Capitols

Capitols Fall 3-2 to Muskegon

The Capitols entered Saturday night in search of ending the holiday weekend on a positive note. This was the middle game of the team's five-game road trip, which did not go the Caps way in games one and two.

On Saturday, the Capitols would be shorthanded with a lot of the regulars in the lineup out for differing reasons, so Madison needed to rely on different people to find the back of the net. In the first, it was the Capitols finding the scoreboard first with Max Nagel recording his second of the season. This was the first time on the road trip that the Caps were able to strike first. The Caps held the lead for the majority of the period until Muskegon netted one with under two to go in the game to make it 1-1 heading into intermission.

In the second, the script was flipped with Muskegon tallying the first of the period. They held a 2-1 advantage for the large majority of the middle frame until Jack Musa scored with 13 seconds to go in the period. Once again, the two teams skated tied into intermission, at a score of 2-2 this time.

The third period had Muskegon jump out in front, but the Capitols were unable to answer as the team fell 3-2 to Muskegon. Madison found themselves on the power play eight times on Saturday night, but with over half of their top power play unit out, the team was unable to strike on the man advantage.

Madison drops to 5-11-0-1 on the season. The Capitols travel to Plymouth, Michigan, to face off against the National Development program next weekend before returning home for a four-game home stand in the middle of the month.
