Capitols Acquire Rastislav Elias in Trade With Youngstown

The Madison Capitols have acquired Rastislav Elias (ELL-ee-ahsh) from the Youngstown Phantoms. Elias is in his second USHL season after spending last season with the Green Bay Gamblers.

Head Coach and General Manager Corey Leivermann had the following to say about the Capitols acquiring the Slovakian goaltender:

"[We] played against him a couple times last season, and he won them a couple of games, especially down the stretch when they sold the farm. For us, we're getting an experienced goaltender who's young, an '04. We've had good connections with Slovaks before with Simon Latkoczy. [Elias] comes from the same World Junior background, advisor group, all that. We're looking to improve in net. Mason and Eino have done a good job, but it's never a bad thing to have three capable goaltenders here that can win you hockey games."

Although acquired from Youngstown, Madison fans may know Elias spent time with the Green Bay Gamblers last season. Elias played in 20 games last season with Green Bay. In those twenty games, he put up a stat line of 8-9-0/4.49 GAA/.864 Save %. He played in three games against Madison last season going 1-1-0. In his one win against the Capitols, Rastislav stopped 38 of 40 Capitols shots, which accounted for a .950 save percentage in that game.
