The Capitols looked to bounce back from a tough loss on Friday night as they traveled to Chicago on Saturday. Madison needed to get things going in the right direction in hopes of snapping a three-game losing streak.
The first period remained scoreless for the majority of the period until the Capitols capitalized in transition to take a 1-0 lead. Nathan Lewis, had left Friday night's game due to injury, but he made his presence known in the first period scoring the game's opening goal off of a Nick Wallace feed.
After taking the one goal lead into the locker room, the Caps found themselves down 2-1 halfway through the second period. A flurry of back-to-back second period goals was the detriment of Madison on Friday night, but the Capitols flipped the script scoring three goals from the 12:07 mark of the period to the 12:39 mark. Goals were scored by Matt McGroarty, Quinn Finley, and Sam Frandina had the Caps in the lead at 4-2 headed into the second intermission.
In the third, the Caps bolstered their lead thanks to Finley's second of the night. The two teams played back and forth on the scoreboard after that with McGroarty picking up his second of the night to improve the lead to 6-3. Chicago made it close but were never able to close the gap with Madison winning 6-5.
The Capitols return home next weekend to once again face off against Chicago on Friday, November 11. On that night, the Capitols will wear special jerseys in honor of the annual Military Appreciation Night, which will be auctioned off online following the game.
