Following a loss in game one of the two-game series, the Capitols hit the ice in hopes heading into the holiday break with a pair of points. The Steel were hoping to do the same, though, as they scored the games first tally in period number one. Madison had a lot of chances in the first period, and the team lead 13-8 in shots after the first period, but the first goal would be the only one in the first.
The second period had the visitor start on the man advantage, which they took advantage of right away. Another power play opportunity for Chicago came minutes later, which once again was scored on to make it a three goal deficit for the Caps. Chicago scored once more to make it 4-0 heading into intermission number two.
Although Miko Matikka tallied his 15th goal of the season to put the Caps on the scoreboard, Chicago won by a score of 4-1. Madison has the weekend off next weekend and hits the road the following. The next time the Caps are at home is on January 6th against Cedar Rapids. Tickets for that game can be found at madcapshockey.com.
