The Capitols traveled to Cedar Rapids on Saturday evening to complete a home and home series. The first leg of the two game stretch against the RoughRiders did not go Madison's way falling 3-2. The Caps looked to bounce back on Saturday making the trip to Cedar Rapids for the first time this season.
Cedar Rapids jumped out to the lead in period one just past the half way point. Madison was outshot during the first period, which was the only period that would occur on Saturday night. The RoughRiders took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. They extended the lead to 4-0 in the first half of the second period to really put their stamp on the game.
After the first period, the Caps outshot Cedar Rapids by a 21-12 margin. Getting more shots on net did not result in getting pucks into the back of the net as Madison was shut out for the first time this season. The Capitols fall to 7-20-1-1 on the season.
Madison returns home on Thursday night to face off against the US National Development Program. Then on Friday, the team starts a home and home set against Eastern Conference leading Chicago. Puck drop on both Thursday and Friday is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Tickets for next week's games can be bought at our official ticketing site, tickets.madcapshockey.com
