Capitols Fight Back, Fall In Overtime 2-1

Coming off of a 6-1 win on Saturday, the Capitols headed into Sunday with a 4-0-0-0 record to their credit. Lincoln, was looking for their first win on home ice of the season after Madison spoiled their home opener the night prior.

Things were quiet through the first forty minutes thanks to outstanding goaltending on each end of the ice. Combined by the end of the night, there would be only three goals allowed. For the Capitols, Carsen Musser was able to stop 41 shots of the Stars in the contest.

In the third, the Stars were able to find themselves on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 lead. They held that lead throughout most of the third period until Austin Burnevik struck for the Capitols with the extra attacker on the ice. This sent the game to overtime, which was the first time for either team.

In overtime, the ice was tilted in advantage of the Stars for the majority of 3-on-3 play, which the tilt became more severe when Carsen Musser took a minor penalty. On the ensueing power play, the Stars were able to capture victory by a score of 2-1.

The team returns home for a two-game series against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday and Saturday.
