Carsen Musser continued being a stone-wall in net stopping 28 of 29 Omaha shots in the Capitols 2-1 shootout loss on Saturday night. The goaltender from Sherburn, Minnesota, has been outstanding as of late recording a .940 save percentage over his last three games for the Capitols.
In the game where the Lancers collected two points for the first time this season, Madison forced overtime with six and a half minutes left in the third period. Madison had four power play opportunities, including two in overtime, but the team was unable to convert. The Lancers would take victory in the 12th round of the shootout scoring their third shootout goal in that round.
After the Brink-Rullers-Nagel line was held scoreless on Friday night, the unit combined for the game tying goal in the third. With the goal, Rullers picked up his second tally of the season. This goal was the first without Delaney and Burnevik at his sides who he played the first nine games of the season with.
The Capitols were unable to complete the sweep for the third time this season. Although Madison has captured points in two of those three opportunities, the team has averaged 1.33 goals when having the chance to break out the broom. That compares to 4.30 goals per game in the other ten games this season for Madison.
Madison still sits in a tie for third in the Eastern Conference, but sit one point closer to first in the conference than when they entered the weekend. Madison has another pair of games coming up this weekend, one against each Chicago and Des Moines.
