Caps Extend Point Streak to Five with 6-2 Win

Madison improves to 11-6-4-2 on the season.

Madison entered play on Saturday night with the second longest point streak in the USHL. After a win for the Capitols and a loss for the top team in the league, Fargo, Madison now holds the longest active point streak in the league with five.

Entering play on Saturday, Dubuque was seeded as the top team in the Eastern Conference. Madison's win made it where this was no longer the case with some help from Green Bay, who also won Saturday night and jumped Dubuque for first place.

Carsen Musser continues on his recent success for Madison stopping 22 of 24 Dubuque shots on net. The Colorado College commit has helped the team collect points in all but two of his twelve starts this season. Musser now ranks third in the USHL, first in the conference with a 2.61 goals against average this season.

After missing his first two games as a Capitol last weekend, Max Nagel made a triumphant return to the lineup scoring two goals for his team. Prior to those two missed games, Nagel had played in 82 straight games since joining the team at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.

Although his three-game goal streak snapped Saturday, James Hong extended his point streak to seven games in the win for Madison. The Ohio State commit registered an assist on Austin Burnevik's first period goal to pick up point number 18 of the season.

James Hong's goal streak may have snapped at three games, but Austin Burnevik's now sits at the three game total after scoring twice in the game on Saturday night. Burnevik now has seven points and five goals in his last three games for the Capitols. He was also named the games first star of the night.

Other scorers in the game for Madison include Jack Henry(2) and Brendan Lamb(4).

The Capitols will have a quick turnaround as the team hosts the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT. Tickets are still available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
