The Capitols continued their four-game home stand on Friday night as they hosted the Omaha Lancers in front of a sell out crowd. Madison was looking to build off of their 3-1 win over Muskegon to end last weekend.
In the first, Madison was able to find the back of the net first with a power play goal from Jack Brandt. For Brandt, it was his third of the season, all with the Capitols in ten games. Omaha answered with a pair minutes later and took a 2-1 lead into intermission. Madison entered the weekend as the least penalized team in the league, but after these two games, that might change as two scrums resulted in multiple penalties to both sides.
As eventful as the first was, the second was just as uneventful as the first was eventful. One goal in the period on a deflection from Omaha had the Caps trailing 3-1 following the forty minute mark.
Madison struck first in the third with Peter Cisar burying a Nathan Lewis feed. That brought the Capitols within one at the midway point of the period. Chippy play led to penalties on the Caps late, which Omaha would take advantage of and skate away with a 4-2 victory.
The two teams are back at it tomorrow night for Madison's Be The Miracle Night. Tickets are still available at tickets.madcapshockey.com. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm, but show up early tomorrow night for the first 1,000 fans through the door will take home a Jim Craig bobblehead.
