Madison hit the road to Chicago this weekend to face off against the Steel. Heading into the weekend, the Caps held a 2-0-0-0 record against the conference leading Steel on their home ice. With a two-game set against the top team in the east, Madison looked to keep the undefeated record in Geneva.
Game one had the Steel get out to a red hot start in the first period. Six goals in the first period had Madison changing goaltenders within the game's first twenty minutes. Although their scoring would slow down, Chicago was still able to keep their net vacant of pucks. The final score was 7-0 on night one of the two game set.
Another chance for the Capitols to keep a perfect record on the season came on Sunday. Coming into the afternoon contest, the Capitols held a 1-0-0-0 record on Sundays this season. Early on, Madison looked like this record would improve to 2-0-0-0 with a pair of goals in the first period from
Brady Yakesh(2) and
Nathan Lewis(9). Chicago would strike for three unanswered before Madison was able to regain the lead back at 4-3 with goals from
Jonah Aegerter(8) and
Jack Brandt(4). It was not enough, though, with the Steel mounting a late comeback and finding the back of the net three times to put a bow on the game 6-4.
Madison returns home this weekend to face off against the USNTDP U18's. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm on both Friday and Saturday night at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. Tickets are still available at
