The Capitols looked for a sweep on Saturday night as they faced Muskegon for the back end of a two-game set. Unlike Friday night, the Caps capitalized on scoring in the first period taking a 3-0 lead out of the games opening twenty minutes. Scoring for the Caps in the first was Kuzma(14), Nagel(8), and Brandt(9).
In the second, both teams found the scoreboard once. For the Caps, it was Andrew Kuzma's second of the game. This meant that Madison brought a three-goal lead into the third period. In the third period, Muskegon struck first to bring themselves within two. Fortunately for Madison, they weren't able to find the back of the net again. Madison added a cherry on top with a Finn Brink tally late to take home a 5-2 win.
The Capitols improve to 16-29-2-2 on the season and extend their winning streak to three games. This is only part of the Caps recent run of collecting points in five of their last six games. The Capitols hit the road Tuesday to Cedar Rapids before returning home to face off against Green Bay on Friday night in the final home game of the season.
Join us on Friday night as the Capitols face off against the Gamblers for our annual Frozen Lemonade Classic presented by Northwestern Mutual. The Caps will be wearing special jerseys as well as helmets designed by kids from UW Children's hospital all in benefit of Alex's Lemonade Stand.
