Following a 6-3 win in their final home game of the season on Friday night, the Caps hit the road in hopes to end the season with a sweep in Green Bay. Although the home team was able to find the scoreboard first, the game made its way down to the wire on Saturday.

The opening goal for Green Bay kept them in front through the first twenty minutes of play. In the second, the Capitols were able to strike twice to take their first lead of the evening at 2-1. Goals coming from Jack Brandt, his eleventh of the season, and Brendan Tighe, his first USHL goal, were what propelled Madison into the lead. The Gamblers found the equalling tally later on in the period to keep things at a score of 2-2 heading into the second intermission.

Madison and Green Bay skated at a tie for the majority of the third, that is until Andrew Kuzma was able to find the back of the net with just under five minutes to go in the final frame. Madison held the lead at 3-2 for just over a minute and a half before Green Bay was able to answer and eventually tie things at 3-3 late in the third. Just six seconds after the Gamblers tied things, they were able to strike again to take a lead they held onto and skated away with a 4-3 win. The home sided Gamblers with the win secured the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference and will host Dubuque next weekend. 

Madison concludes the 2022-23 season with a record of 17-41-2-2 on the year. Tom Gilbert and company on the Madison bench since taking over in mid March end their run at a record of 6-7-0-1 to end the year. This includes a 5-3-0-1 record in the month of April. Madison returns home for exit meetings before turning their full attention to the draft scheduled for early March.
