Jack Brandt tallied twice en route to the Capitols 5-4 victory over the Phantoms on Friday night. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for Madison after the win.
Other scorers in the game for Madison included Austin Burnevik(27), Chris Delaney(9), and Shawn Ramsey(1).
The goal for Ramsey was his first USHL goal coming in his 35th game in league, his seventh with Madison this season. He was acquired in January after playing the beginning of his season with the Philadelphia Rebels of the NAHL.
Carsen Musser stood out in the game stopping 31 of 35 shots on goal that came his way. He picked up his first win in four contests helping Madison snap the streak.
James Hong picked up three points in his return to the USHL after participating in Pre-Olympic Qualification for South Korea over the past two weeks. In Pre-Olympic play, Hong registered four points in three games as the team's top listed center. He was in that spot with Delaney and Burnevik at his side once again on Friday night. The top unit for the Capitols recorded eight total points in the game on Friday.
Although he was unable to find the back of the net, Sam Rice matched his career high in points for a game with two. Rice assisted on Ramsey's second period goal as well as Jack Brandt's third period power play goal.
The Capitols will look to break out the brooms for the first time this season on Saturday night as they have yet to complete a sweep this season. It's the team's annual Be The Miracle Night benefiting the Bob Suter Memorial Foundation, which gives back to youth hockey in the Madison area.
Madison will dawn special USA-themed jerseys, which are up for auction now through Sunday night at this link: https://fans.winwithdash.com/auction/65cb8da3761ea1000756e04b.
