Caps Break Franchise Tier 1 Record, Beat Green Bay 10-3

Madison improves to 23-19-4-2 on the season.

A franchise Tier 1 record ten goals led the Capitols to the team's fifth consecutive win on Wednesday night over Green Bay. The win streak marks the longest of the season for Madison as they inch closer to fourth place in the Eastern Conference, which is currently occupied by Youngstown.

The ten-goal record shatters five separate eight-goal performances by the Capitols franchise since the team's return to play in the fall of 2014. Scoring in the game for Madison were Chris Delaney(10), James Hong(15), Colton Jamieson(3), Brendan Lamb(6), Max Nagel(17), Ronan O'Donnell(4), Sam Rice(7, 8), and Rainers Rullers(7, 8).

Chris Delaney(1-2=3) and Aiden Long(0-3=3) both collected three point games and were named the first and second stars of the night respectively. Including the pair of players at three points, the Capitols had nine players with multi-point games in the contest. The players with two point nights for Madison included Austin Burnevik(0-2=2), James Hong(1-1=2), Colton Jamieson(1-1=2), Brendan Lamb(1-1=2), Charlie Michaud(0-2=2), Sam Rice(2-0=2), and Rainers Rullers(2-0=2).

Madison found two short handed goals in the third period, one from each James Hong and Sam Rice. Madison jumped from 12th in the league in short handed goals to 7th with the pair of goals. With his goal on the penalty kill, James Hong moves into a tie for the league lead in short handed goals on the season with three.

Austin Burnevik's two-point night brings him into a tie of the Capitols Tier 1 record for points in a season with Luke Mittelstadt's 55-point season in 2021-22. With his next point, Burnevik will stand alone among Madison's Tier 1 points record.

Carsen Musser stopped 25 of 28 Green Bay shots on goal in the contest. With the win, Musser collected his third consecutive win and his 13th of the season. He currently sits in fifth place for the franchise's Tier 1 history in wins in a season and will move into a tie for fourth with his next victory. The record is held by Latkoczy with 23 in 21-22. Patriks Berzins with his ten wins is in a tie for sixth in that category.

Madison will have a quick turnaround as the team hosts Sioux Falls for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday. Puck drop both nights is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Tickets are limited for both games but are still available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
