With a win on Saturday, the Capitols would have picked up a point in every single game against the USNTDP this season. Unfortunately for Madison, the U17s had a different plan as they held the Capitols to just one goal en route to a 3-1 win.
The U17s took Saturday night's contest on the back of Conrad Fondrk and Cullen Potter offensively who scored all five goals on the weekend for the U17s. Fondrk scored the second and third goals for the U17s, which were his 12th and 13th USHL goals of the season.
Madison outshot the U17s 23-17 in the contest with Joey Slavick stopping 22 of the Capitols attempts at goal. Carsen Musser stopped 14 of 17 shots sent his way in the contest.
Scoring the lone goal for Madison was John Stout. The goal was his second of the season, which puts him behind only Charlie Michaud for rookie defensemen on the team this season in that category. Rainers Rullers and Jack Brandt earned assists on the goal, which tied things in the second period for Madison.
The Caps have a quick turnaround with a 4:05 puck drop scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Cedar Rapids. Madison looks to complete the season series sweep of the RoughRiders in the contest.
One final regular season home game will take place on Friday, April 12th, as it's a Dollar Beer Night presented by Coors Light. It's the last series of the season against Green Bay as the two teams wrap up the Wisconsin Cheese Cup presented by Klondike Cheese. Tickets are still available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
