Madison Capitols Head Coach and General Manager Trent Eigner announced today the team has acquired forward Wyatt Finkenkeller, affiliated forward CJ Sawyer, Youngstown's 2027 Phase I fifth-round pick, Cedar Rapids 2027 Phase II fifth-round pick, and a conditional 2028 Phase II second-round pick from the Youngstown Phantoms in exchange for forward Stephen Cover and Madison's 2027 Phase I tenth-round pick.

Finkenkeller, 16, was drafted by Youngstown in the sixth round of the 2025 Phase I Draft. The Zionsville, Indiana, native is in his first season in the USHL after playing AAA hockey with the Chicago Reapers. Last season, Finkenkeller registered a team-leading 88 points (34 goals and 54 assists) in 60 games with the Reapers.

Sawyer, 16, was selected by the Phantoms in the sixth round of the 2026 Phase I Draft. The Pelham, New Hampshire, native spent the 2025-26 season playing a year up with with the Atlantic Coast Academy 16U AAA program. In 36 games, Sawyer picked up 64 points.

Cover, 17, was tendered by the Capitols on April 8, 2025. Across 62 regular season games with the Capitols, the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, native tallied 24 points (12 goals and 12 assists). He also collected two points (one goal and one assist) in eleven playoff games with Madison.

Finkenkeller will join the Capitols roster for the upcoming season while Sawyer joins the team's affiliate list.
