Weekend Preview: Green Bay Comes to Town, Road Game in CR in the Middle

Madison enters play this weekend with a 7-6-0-0 record on the season.

The Capitols play their first three-in-three of the season this weekend hosting Green Bay twice, Friday and Sunday, while traveling to Cedar Rapids on Saturday. The weekend stand is the first of seven three-game weekends for Madison. The Capitols will play four of their next five games at home.

WEEKEND RECAP
The Capitols faced off against Cedar Rapids for the first two meetings between the two teams of the season last weekend. Friday, the RoughRiders tallied four first period goals that Madison would end up chasing the rest of the night with the Capitols falling 7-3. Madison traveled to Cedar Rapids looking for the series split on Saturday. On the back of a four-goal second period, the Capitols knotched their seventh win of the regular season and forced the series split. In parts of three seasons under Andy Brandt, Madison is 7-3-0-0 against Cedar Rapids.

YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD 'EM
Friday night marks the first of eight games between Green Bay and Madison this season. The Gamblers enter the weekend tied for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with Chicago at 16 points playing in fifteen games. Last season, the Capitols won five of nine regular season meetings between the two teams before sweeping the Gamblers in the playoffs. Madison went 3-1-0-0 against Green Bay at home in 2024-25. The Gamblers were busy this offseason adding three NTDP players to the mix of returning players for the team, Landon Hafele, Maceo Phillips, and Joey Slavick. Green Bay is led in points by Elliot Gulley with 16 and in goal by Leo Henriquez who has a 5-2-0-1 record on the season.

BACK ON THE SADDLE TO THE STABLE
Saturday marks the third matchup between the Capitols and RoughRiders of the season but also in the past four games. The Capitols travel to Cedar Rapids four times this season while only hosting the RoughRiders for two games throughout the season. The entire season series will be wrapped up on January 10th marking six of Madison's first 32 games being played against Cedar Rapids. The RoughRiders sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 17 points. They are led by, brother of former Capitols forward Jack Musa, Jason Musa who has 13 points entering the weekend. In goal, Ryan Cameron has played in ten of their thirteen games holding a 3.09 goals against average.

BERGESON FOUR-POINT WEEKEND
Capitols forward Tyden Bergeson became the leading scorer on the Capitols over the weekend with a pair of multi-point games. Bergeson registered a two-goal night for the first time in his career on Friday before adding a goal and an assist on Saturday night. The Augustana commit has now scored in four-straight games entering play this weekend. This is tied for the longest active streak in the USHL with Gavin Katz of Green Bay and Drew Stewart of Muskegon. The longest streak in the league this season is held by Alex Pelletier of Lincoln who had an eight-game streak earlier this season.
