The Chicago Steel visited the Madison Capitols on Friday night. Friday's game was the last of a four-game homestand for Madison. This was the seventh meeting between the teams this season; they split their previous six matchups, each winning three games.
Madison got on the board first in this one, as Caleb Pittsley would score a shorthanded goal within the first two minutes of the contest. After a scoreless second period, Chicago put their foot on the gas in the third. The Steel rattled off five straight goals, including back-to-back goals by Washington Capitals prospect Jackson Crowder. Chicago went 2/4 while on the power play and scored an empty net goal as well. Madison was unable to light the lamp the remainder of the game, resulting in a 5-1 loss. With this loss, Madison dropped to sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Capitols will travel to Chicago on Saturday night, before heading to Green Bay on Sunday.
