The Madison Capitols had three players selected during the 2026 NHL Draft. Egor Barabanov, Elliot Lennon, and Bobby Cowan had their names called in Buffalo, N.Y., over the weekend.
Former Capitols' forward Egor Barabanov became the first Capitol taken on Saturday being selected by Calgary in the fourth round. Barabanov had 38 points in 53 games with Madison during the 2024-25 season. Barabanov is committed to play college hockey at Massachusetts.
Elliot Lennon was selected by the Ottawa Senators ten picks after Barabanov was picked. Lennon skated in two games with Madison as an affiliated goaltender picking up one win while holding a 3.40 goals against average. During the prep season at Deerfield Academy, Lennon held a 1.84 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. The goaltender from Kirkland, Quebec, is committed to play college hockey at Brown.
The final Capitols player to have his named called during the draft was Bobby Cowan. Cowan had 51 points in 57 games with Madison during the 2024-25 season, which ranks 9th for single season points in the team's Tier 1 era. This season, Cowan registered 24 points in 39 games at Western Michigan.
With three Capitols selected this weekend, Madison extends a streak of having multiple players picked to five straight drafts. This is the second straight year with three players picked for Madison. The Capitols have had at least one player selected in each of the past seven drafts.
