Capitols forward
Gustavs Griva has been named to the preliminary roster for the 2026 World Junior Championships for Team Germany.
Griva is in his first season with the Capitols after playing the past handful of seasons with the Jungadler Mannheim program in his home country. Through his first 20 games of his USHL career, Griva leads the Capitols in points with 19 on the season including eight goals.
The forward will join his current Capitols teammate
Caleb Heil, USA, as long as they both make it past the final round of cuts.
Should he make the final team, he will become the third Capitols player to compete with a non-United States country in the past six events. He would join
Rainers Rullers who competed with Latvia in 2024 and Simon Latkoczy who competed with Latvia in 2022.
