John Stout Named USHL Defenseman of the Week

This marks the first time for Stout to receive the award this season.

The USHL announced on Monday that Capitols defenseman John Stout has been named the Defenseman of the Week for the league.

Stout, a native of Minnetonka, Minnesota, registered two goals and an assist in the Capitols weekend series against Youngstown. Along with his three points during regulation, Stout was able to score during the shootout on Saturday to help Madison grab the weekend series from the Phantoms.

The two goals both came on the power play for Stout, which were his first two power play goals during his USHL career. His two points on Saturday night marked just the third time during his USHL career that he picked up multiple points during a game.

Stout is in his second full season with the Capitols and is committed to the University of Wisconsin. The alternate captain led the USHL in plus-minus rating during the 2025-26 season.

The Capitols return home to face off against the USNTDP U18 team on Friday and Saturday night. Friday is the team's ninth $1 Beer Night presented by Coors Light of the season. Saturday is our annual Cross-Check Cancer Night supporting the American Cancer Society. Tickets are available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
