The Madison Capitols announced today that the organization will relocate to a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility located in DeForest, Wisconsin, ahead of the 2026-27 regular season. Along with the announcement, the team revealed new renderings for the project highlighting the entire entertainment district, DeForest Yards, on the Northeast side of Madison.
"Today marks an exciting milestone in the story of our organization," said LEGACY20 Owner and Chairman Ryan Suter. "LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards is designed to elevate the experience for our players, fans, and community for many years to come."
When completed, the team's brand-new facility will have a capacity of 3,000 between stadium-style seating and premium areas. The new arena will have a center-hanging videoboard for an elevated fan experience along with premium locker room amenities expanded concourse space and premium seating options. The arena will include a full sports bar, team store, and hospitality areas, and improved player development resources.
DeForest Yards will enhance the game day experience for fans, players, and the community. To go along with the indoor facility, DeForest Yards will also have a covered outdoor rink that will host hockey during the winter months and convert to a community space in the summer for concerts, markets, fitness programs, and family and corporate events. The entertainment district will also include a second location of local favorite Aranda's Mexican Restaurant, Youngblood Brewery, and ample space for visitors to congregate.
The Capitols will have dedicated locker room areas, team meeting spaces, athletic training room, and operational offices within the facility. These upgrades will provide expanded resources for the organization's athletes and staff while creating an enhanced environment for year-round development.
"Moving into a new facility raises the standard for our entire program," said Capitols Head Coach and General Manager
Andy Brandt. "On the recruiting side, players want to see the environment and tools they will use every day to continue and enhance their development. The training space, locker room setup, video space, hydrotherapy, and developmental resources will all be great for our program. The new facility shows players, families, agents, and scouts that Madison is a top destination in the USHL."
Capitols staff will utilize multiple parts of the facility for day-to-day operations, including offices, meeting rooms, media areas, and the team's locker room. These areas will allow the organization to expand its community outreach, broadcast, media relations, and event operations functions.
Current Capitols season ticket holders will receive priority access for seat selection at LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards. Details on the seating process, pricing, and timelines will be provided during the 2025-26 season so that members can evaluate options well in advance of the transition.
Pricing and seating map for the 2026-27 season will be announced later. Group outings, hospitality rentals, and premium seating inquiries for the new arena will be accepted by heading to the DeForest Yards tab on the Capitols website.
The Capitols will provide regular updates on construction, milestones, and fan information through the team website and official social media channels. Fans will be able to follow progress through photos, video features, and announcement as the arena approaches completion.
The organization is excited for the remainder of the 2025-26 season at Bob Suter's LEGACY20 Arena in Middleton while looking to the future in DeForest.
