Madison Hosts Omaha for Weekend Series
The Madison Capitols will host the Omaha Lancers for a two-game series this weekend. This series will be the first and only time the Lancers and Capitols meet in the regular season. The Capitols swept Omaha in their two-game series last season. Omaha enters the weekend last in the Western Conference after back-to-back losses to Tri-City and Lincoln. Madison enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak, having won seven of their last 10 games.Â

Sammy Smith Shines Against Dubuque
Janesville Jets (NAHL) call-up Sammy Smith played with the Capitols last weekend in all three games. The Homer Glen, Ill., native found his footing in the third game of the weekend against conference rival Dubuque. Smith opened the scoring with his first USHL goal and added another later in the second period, leading the Capitols to a 5-2 win over the Fighting Saints. Smith has played 31 games this season with the Jets. He has recorded 14 points, including seven goals.Â
Madison Moves Up in USHL Power Rankings
Previously ranked ninth, the Capitols climbed two spots to seventh in this week's USHL power rankings, moving ahead of Cedar Rapids and Sioux City. Madison picked up three wins last weekend and improved their record to 24-14-0-3. The Capitols own the league's third-best record over the last 10 games at 7-2-0-1 and have the easiest strength of schedule in the Eastern Conference over the next 10 games.
