The United States Hockey League announced the finalists for The Gaudreau Award on Friday. Caleb Heil was chosen as the finalist to represent the Capitols organization.
The Gaudreau Award was announced in January of 2025 as a yearly honor bestowed upon the player in the league who best embodies the legacy of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. There are three pillars to the Gaudreau Award that nominees must follow: Excellence of Hockey, Spirit of the Game, and Care and Responsibility.
Heil has had a career year both for the Capitols and representing his country. He has registered a 23-12-0-3 record with Madison only not playing in ten games that he was available for this season. Caleb represented Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Minnesota getting two starts and picking up a record of 2-0.Â
His time at the World Junior Championships followed up his third straight appearance dawning the stars and stripes at the World Junior A Challenge in Quebec where he and his team, led by head coach of the Capitols Andy Brandt, took home a second straight gold medal.
The Gaudreau Award winner will be announced at the winner's final home game of the regular season.
