Weekend Preview: Capitols Travel to Sioux City

Capitols Travel to Sioux City 
The Madison Capitols (31-24-0-3) will hit the road for the second straight weekend, facing the Sioux City Musketeers (28-24-2-2) in a two-game set. This will be the first time the Capitols and Musketeers meet this season. Madison split a two-game set with Muskegon last weekend, while Sioux City enters the weekend following a 5-1 win over Fargo on Wednesday. The Musketeers sit third in the Western Conference and have already clinched a berth in the Clark Cup Playoffs. Madison is sixth in the Eastern Conference, seven points ahead of Chicago for the final playoff spot.

Alumni Report: Capitols Alumni in the NCAA Tournament
There are 14 former Capitols competing in the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Five of them are with the University of Wisconsin: Finn Brink, Ben Dexheimer, Quinn Finley, Jack Horbach and Kyle Kukkonen. Wisconsin defeated Dartmouth 5-1 in the first round. Finley and Horbach each scored, while Dexheimer added an assist. Former Madison forward Tyler Grahme suited up for Dartmouth.

Michigan State faced UConn in the first round. Former Capitols forward and 2024-25 USHL Rookie of the Year Ryker Lee scored a goal to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 victory.

Matthew McGroarty and Sam Scopa suited up for Quinnipiac in the first round, leading the Bobcats to a 5-2 win over Providence.

Daniel Astapovich appeared for Merrimack in the first round, falling to North Dakota 3-0.

Nick DeSantis and Aiden Long will skate for Cornell against Denver, while Bobby Cowan will suit up for Western Michigan against Minnesota State on Friday.

Nick Fascia and Penn State will face Minnesota Duluth on Friday as well.
